| Mode Of Action | 3-KAT inhibitors (like trimetazidine), are metabolic anti-ischaemic agents that provide cardioprotection to coronary patients. They also act on sensory tissues. By preserving the energy metabolism in cells exposed to hypoxia or ischaemia, they prevent a decrease in intracellular ATP levels, thereby ensuring the proper functioning of ionic pumps and transmembrane sodum-potassium flow whilst maintaining cellular homeostasis. |
